pearl powder skin benefits

Although it is not a new ingredient, pearl powder is now widely used in skin care products like moisturisers. It has been used in Chinese and Ayurvedic medicine for thousands of years. According to legend, Wu Zetian, a Chinese empress, used the powder to enhance her skin.

The powder is used to fight inflammation, as a relaxant, and as a detoxifier in Chinese medicine. Pearl was used in love potions and is reputed to be a poison antidote in Ayurvedic medicine. A number of alleged advantages for skin and health are claimed for pearl powder, which also contains amino acids, calcium, and trace minerals.

What is Pearl Powder?

A soft, fine powder with a consistency akin to flour or cornstarch is created by sterilising fresh or saltwater pearls in a boiling solution and then grinding them until they turn into a fine powder.

Pearl powder contains the following elements:

    1. Amino Acids

For our bodies to work properly, these protein-building ingredients are necessary. They promote cellular healing and hydration, encourage collagen production in skin cells, and shield the skin from the environment and contaminants.

    1. Mineral Traces

More than 30 trace minerals, including magnesium and potassium, which support healthy skin, may be found in pearls.

    1. High Calcium Levels

Calcium increases moisture retention and skin renewal. Additionally, it aids in controlling cell and sebum turnover. Calcium helps maintain bone density and may prevent osteoporosis when taken orally.

    1. Boosters for Antioxidants

Superoxide dismutase (SOD) and glutathione, two of the body's most abundant antioxidants, are reported to be increased by pearl powder. These antioxidants fight free radicals and protect skin from sun exposure.

Benefits of Hydrolyzed Pearl Protein

    1. Exfoliates

Calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate, which are both natural exfoliants, are found in large quantities in pearl. Exfoliation is essential for eliminating older and damaged skin layers in order to promote the synthesis of newer skin cells. Face cleansers formulated with pearl extracts hydrate dry regions, reduce redness, leave no chemical residues, and freshen the face.

    1. Reduces Acne

The proteins found in pearls have very beneficial anti-inflammatory and antibacterial capabilities. The use of a face mask infused with pearl essence can reduce the size of large pimples, boils, and cysts on the face, eliminate scars, and also stop the development of acne in areas of skin that are clear.

    1. Anti-Ageing

Being a rich source of antioxidants and necessary amino acids, a pearl is particularly effective at delaying the ageing process of the skin and preventing skin cells from degenerating. The use of a facial kit that includes items infused with the benefits of pearl powder ensures a decrease in fine lines and wrinkles as well as the enhanced firming and plumping of sagging skin.

    1. Removes Tan

Natural pearl deposits choked with minerals and amino acids can successfully reduce acne scars, age spots, and other skin issues while protecting skin from the sun's harmful UV rays. Pearl extracts can help brighten dull skin and lighten dark spots when they are used in face cleansers and moisturizers.

    1. Hydrates

Pearl extracts contain a significant amount of conchiolin, a protein. When absorbed by skin cells, this protein performs similarly to keratin by transforming into collagen, which is essential for the suppleness of the skin. So, skincare products made from pearls are useful for trapping moisture, boosting metabolism, deeply moisturising tough regions, and therefore improving the health of the skin.

How to Use Hydrolyzed Pearl Protein

Hydrolyzed Pearl Protein is adaptable. Use it as a facial mask, a faint highlighter, or a translucent mineral setting/finish powder by brushing it on. Additionally, practically all powders, oils, creams, lotions, and other cosmetics blend nicely with it.

    1. Facial Mask:

Your favourite recipe can be modified to include pearl powder. Here is an example:

- Take 2 grams of pearl powder.

- Add 2 tsp of rice bran or wheat powder (if you’d prefer it gluten-free).

- Incorporate 3 tsp of water, milk, or soy milk.

- You can choose to add honey or hydrating oil. Mix well. Apply for ten minutes on the face. Use warm water to rinse.

    1. Highlighter

Enhance your preferred facial features. Despite seeming white, pearl powder is not simply a white powder. It has subtle colour changes from front to side perspectives.

- Use a Q-tip or a highlighter brush to dab on a little powder.

- Layer slowly until you achieve the desired effect and intensity you prefer.

    1. Setting Powder:

Blend fine wrinkles, match the colour of your makeup, and keep shine and oil under control. Since hydrolyzed pearl powder is so thin (2–3 microns), you can use it to create translucent makeup.

- Apply a small amount of it as a setting powder over the foundation.

- Use as a finishing powder over makeup.

    1. Mix With Your Cosmetic Products:

- One scoop of pearl powder will do (about 0.1 grams)

- Place it in your palm. - Mix it along with your preferred cosmetic product (body oil, face cream, etc.) for an added glow.

- Apply the mixture liberally to the body, hands, neck, and face.

- Wash and rinse as usual if using soap or a cleanser.

Caution

Although calcium is one of the minerals in the powder that some people are allergic to, it is generally thought to be a safe supplement to consume. Before applying any product topically to the skin, always conduct a patch test.

Take note if you are vegan as well. Although many vegans believe it acceptable to incorporate dietary medicines like pearl powder and bee pollen in their diets, pearl powder is technically not vegan, just like bee pollen isn’t.
